What is the multi-level spatial auditing?
Multi-level spatial auditing separates real occupiable floor area from vertical voids. Open-to-below atria, stairwells, shafts and upper-level exit doors are identified per floor so they are treated correctly, keeping interior square footage figures accurate across a stacked multi-storey building.
The problem it prevents
A double-height atrium drawn on both levels counts twice. Stairwells and shafts drawn as ordinary rooms inflate usable area on every floor they appear. These errors compound in tall buildings and only surface when someone reconciles the CAFM total against a measured survey.
How it works
- Vertical voids are flagged on the space layer so they are excluded from interior area rather than deleted from the drawing.
- Upper-level exit doors, stairs and open-to-below geometry are distinguished by their structural role, not just their layer name.
- Per-floor and stacked totals are recalculated with voids excluded once, not once per level.
- Audit states highlight any space whose classification changed on the current revision.
