Founders Nick and Rich have been in the infrastructure and Facilities Management (FM) industry for well over 20 years. From 1985 to the late 1990s, Nick and Rich were resellers of Primavera Systems and AutoCAD, working closely with Architect, Engineer and Construction (AEC) organizations. Between the two companies, Microdec Technologies in Washington, D.C. and Beach Computer Group in Vancouver, B.C., Nick and Rich earned numerous awards for exceptional sales and service from Autodesk and Primavera.
With the development of 3rd party applications, Nick and Rich quickly found a niche market assisting organizations with CAD floorplans and custom database development. They grew expertise and became fluent in configuring Client Server LAN architecture to provide individual user access rights while connecting to a relational database.
After years of listening to customers curse, Nick and Rich decided it was time to develop a new product. In 1997, IDN registered the Infrastructure.Net domain name with the vision of combining their knowledge of FM and technology to create a new way of sharing information outside the traditional Client-Server LAN environment. By designing web pages that deliver facilities related data and drawings that were previously only available from special workstations in-house, a whole new generation of software was born.
In 2011, IDN partnered with Rackspace to provide cloud hosting services using their data centers around the world. This was instrumental in realizing the vision of creating, refining and expanding the use of the Internet for serious facilities management. IDN released the first set of facility management (FM) SaaS products, IDN12, that are successfully used by large organizations around the world.
After 20 years, IDN continues to innovate new ways to efficiently manage facilities and people using the cloud.
